Medical appointments

Got my 2 mile walk in today, but my knee has been feeling funky so I'm not pushing too hard. Did the Ultimate Abs ball workout, too.

Today was my annual woman's appointment. First time I had to circle "YES" on the family history of cancer question. Once I told her about mom's ovarian cancer and her two sisters having had breast cancer, she ordered an ultrasound of my abdomen and a CA-125 blood test that shows a tendency (?) toward ovarian cancer (or something like that.) Will have the ultrasound on the same day as my mammogram later this month.

As some of you know, I have fibrous cystic disease, so always lots of lumps and bumps in the boobies. I've had cysts aspirated in my breasts more than once. During the exam today, she was "There's one, there's another. Oh, that's another one!" Whatever. She recommended I draw a picture of where I feel them and track differences from month to month.

As I was getting ready to leave the house this evening for a Dove Chocolate meeting in Denver (definitely the FUN part of my life! ;-D) I went to tell my son good-bye and he says he feels like he's getting the flu. Crap! Something we definitely DO NOT NEED with his health issues. He did have a fever so we started him on the Tamiflu, which his CF doctor gave us the prescription for at his last app't. Will call them tomorrow to let them know and see what else they want us to do.

I hope that you son doesn't get the flu! I also hope that everything is okay with all your tests. I know that kind of thing can be stressful.

hi, hope all is well. Hope you son feels better soon. Our whole family was on the tamiflu meds, except the youngest, who (touch wood) has not gotten sick even with 3 out of 4 being sick. Hope you have a further good week and a great weekend. All the best.

Hope everything turns out alright!!!

Great job on getting in your workout despite of things. My knee (around the tendons) has been feeling a little funny lately too and I've been instructed to give it about two weeks rest. Don't push yourself too hard as well!

Hey, thanks for the comment. I'm pretty sure that it was some sort of food poisoning, but since I'd never had it I was just guessing. I noticed you live in Palmer Lake, CO. I'm trying to convince my husband that CO should be our next destination of where to live. What is the weather like there? What are the people like? How is real estate? What are some companies there?

Hope your son bypasses the flu.

Good for you for getting your walk in even with the knee.

Good luck with the tests. I am due for my mamo too. I need to schedule an appt and will do so when we get back from vacation.

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog.

Keeping my fingers crossed on the tests and the son's flu symptoms!

I hope everyone stays healthy! It is SO hard not to pass this cold onto the kids and once it gets to one of them we're all sick.

Good luck with your mammogram. We have a familial tendency to breast cancer as well, so I am crossing all my fingers that I can dodge that bullet and you will, too!

Hopefully your son didn't get the flu and is feeling better. And good luck on your latest round of medical tests. BTW ... your anniversary trip sounded DIVINE!!

Poor baby - I hope your son feels better soon! We've been hit hard really early this year at the school where I teach. Last week we had 50 out of 300 kids out sick :( I have a twinge of guilt that I may be contributing to the creation of a supervirus, but I've just been disinfecting everything and giving the kids Germ-X.

Congrats on being so proactive with your health. I have a lot of scar tissue in my breasts from a reduction surgery and I know how stressful it can be not to feel that you can necessarily rely on self exams.

Do you know about the ca-125? It's a cancer protein marker...they'll use it to track. If it goes way up they'll know you are having issues and at risk (way up...from under 25 to hundereds). But, with your mom I'm sure you know that. It's what my mom passed from too. The first year to talk about it is alway hard. I feel for you.

OH, I hope, hope, hope your son doesn't have the flu! I'll try and send my good vibes your way!
