Oh, SNAP!
Actually, it was more of a riiiiiip. My son couldn't get his car up our steep hill because we've had about 6 or more inches of snow in 3 hours. (He'd been in Denver.) After brushing off a thick, heavy layer of snow off the car, I took Ken's Edge to try to help him out. (Ken's car was behind my Journey in the garage.) Two young men in a Jeep slid into me on the way down the hill. Just a gentle bump, I doubt if there's any mark on our car. They stopped to check on me and said they'd be back in an hour if we were still stuck. I turned around and parked up hill from Kendall's car, walked down to his. Fell on my butt once. Got up, fell again and my leg doubled under me and I felt a ripping in my knee. Told Kendall - "OK, it's time to call Dad. Call Kisa and have her wake him up!"
I backed Kendall's car down the hill and turned around. Down at the intersection where we turn, there's a parking area for a trail, so I parked his car there and Ken and Kendall picked me up in the Edge. The Edge had no problem whatsoever getting up the hill. Not a single spin of the wheels. I could not believe how much snow had fallen since Ken and I got back home from ballroom dance lessons. Snow had barely started accumulating at 8:30!
Tomorrow morning Kisa has a doctor's app't at 10:45. I have a feeling a trip to the ER will be on my schedule. I'm icing my knee, but I can tell it's not going to be good. Kendall has no desire to drive in snow again and Kisa hasn't felt up to driving much either so we'll have to see what works out. I'm supposed to be scrapbooking all day (and all weekend.) WAAAH!

HYC check in - 181.0
Up 1.4 since last week, but since it's TOM, I'm OK with that. I definitely up the salt intake during this time, which my cardiologist wants me to do ALL the time. Still don't see much difference in my high heart rate, though. :-P (If you haven't seen it yet, scroll down and watch my workout video. :-D
Got this in my email today.

>>1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just one cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.
>>
>>2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for hours.
>>
>>3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try rubbing a cucumber slice along the mirror, it will eliminate the fog and provide a soothing, spa-like fragrance.
>>
>>4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.
>>
>>5. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going out or to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too!!!
>>
>>6. Want to avoid a hangover or terrible headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients the body lost, keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding both a hangover and headache!!
>>
>>7. Looking to fight off that afternoon or evening snacking binge? Cucumbers have been used for centuries and often used by European trappers, traders and explorers for quick meals to thwart off starvation.
>>
>>8. Have an important meeting or job interview and you realize that you don't have enough time to polish your shoes? Rub a freshly cut cucumber over the shoe, its chemicals will provide a quick and durable shine that not only looks great but also repels water.
>>
>>9. Out of WD 40 and need to fix a squeaky hinge? Take a cucumber slice and rub it along the problematic hinge, and voila, the squeak is gone!
>>
>>10. Stressed out and don't have time for massage, facial or visit to the spa? Cut up an entire cucumber and place it in a boiling pot of water, the chemicals and nutrients from the cucumber will react with the boiling water and be released in the steam, creating a soothing, relaxing aroma that has been shown to reduce stress in new mothers and college students during final exams- AS WELL AS DIVAS!!!
>>
>>11. Just finished a business lunch and realize you don't have gum or mints? Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds to eliminate bad breath, the phytochemcials will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath.
>>
>>12. Looking for a 'green' way to clean your faucets, sinks or stainless steel? Take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of tarnish and bring back the shine, but it won't leave streaks and won't harm you fingers or fingernails while you clean.
>>
>>13. Using a pen and made a mistake? Take the outside of the cucumber and slowly use it to erase the pen writing, also works great on crayons and markers that the kids have used to decorate the walls!!

Ultimate Abs ball
Here's a video of part of my workout where Nico is trying to get involved. (At the end you get a glimpse of my daughter's chinchilla, too.) When I do the crunches on the ball, he has jumped up on my lap before, too. We just haven't got that on tape. :-)

!!!500!!!! - 181.6
This is the 500th post on my health blog, which I started in May of 2007. And still not yet at goal. That's OK. I'm happy to have made all of the healthy changes in my life.
So am I supposed to post 500 things about me on this one? Ha! Don't worry, I would NOT put you all through that! ;-)
Weights been hanging around 179-180 all week. I've had pretty strong salty craving, so I'm thinking it's PMS. So I wouldn't be surprised if I have an upswing this week.
We had a nice Valentine's dinner with some friends and our kids last night. So thankful our kids are grown. I wasn't allowed to take a photo of the kids. :-P
OK, my stupid browser shut down when I was updating the post with true confessions. So not fair!
Anyway, just wanted to admit that in that couple above, it is my husband who is the romantic. He's the one who remembers what I was wearing on different dates 24 years ago and what music we were listening to when. He's the one who organized a candlelight picnic on the beach when we lived in Japan. We've never really gone all out for Valentine's Day. It's just never been a big deal. On Saturday night he mentioned there was something he'd like "if I didn't get it for him." Yeah, I hadn't even picked up a card! So I said, "PLEASE TELL ME!" Thankfully, it was something I could do. He wanted a copy of a certain photo of me from an amateur "photo shoot" I did in April 07 when I was playing with my new digital camera after a snowstorm. I had an extra copy of the photo, so I cannibalized a frame I had on hand. :-) (This pic was about 30lbs ago!!)

HYC check in - 178.6
Yeah, major loss but not in a good way! Got violently ill on Saturday night. Pretty sure it was food poisoning because I did not drink THAT much! :-) My weight last week spiked up all week long, and was up to 185.6, so the illness took away seven pounds. I'm sure it will come back up with normal eating. Will be taking it slow for today since my heart rate has gone up to 130 just by walking into the kitchen.
Had a busy weekend doing a chocolate party on Friday night and then Saturday for a brunch. Will be doing something similar this weekend so I should have good Dove Chocolate sales for this month after a slow January!

HYC check in - same as 2 weeks ago
Ugh - had a major uptick from last week and not sure why. I'm going to do an official weigh in tomorrow since I did have a cleansing bathroom break after breakfast. ;-)
