Another detour

No idea what my weight is today. My son is in the hospital after sinus surgery yesterday that went quite badly! In recovery, he started bleeding A LOT and didn't stop for several hours. It was 4 hours before they let us go back to see him. Blood was coming from his nose and being coughed out from coming down the back of the throat. Packing the sinuses did no good, so they went back to the operating room. Poor kid was scared out of his mind. As were mom & dad! It took them a while to find the source of the bleed, and it wasn't just one big one, it was oozing all over the place. They repacked it and cauterized a couple spots and he came out from that one MUCH better.

Needless to say, the outpatient surgery turned into an inpatient stay. Fortunately, he and I both packed bags because we knew with his clotting problems, the results were not necessarily gonna be typical. You can say that again! He lost 4 units of blood. He's doing much better now and we'll be spending a few days here in the hospital so they can monitor his resumption of coumadin, taken for his clotting issues.

Soooooo, couldn't care less what I weigh today. Hubby and I did take a 30 minute walk during the first surgery. And I just took a short one by myself for lunch. Drinking lots of water and I had packed healthy snacks, so keepin' it as real as I can.

So sorry to hear about your son. I hope he gets better quickly.

Also,I had to stop in and say LMBO...your last comment on my blog, totally made me snort. I dunno why they're blocking my food pics at the hospital. I swear they aren't racy. ;) Just pics of cheese and my salad. Hahaha...

To make things even more "pleasant" having cramps today. Ugh. Hubby is coming to stay so I can go home tonight. Will definitely be packing lots of food for me when I come back. Their cafeteria here sucks. Can't live only on Nature smoothies and Odwalla bars for TOO long. Very disappointed that this size hospital doesn't have more healthy choices. Nothing gluten-free (other than the bars) and no dairy-free milk choices.

Sorry to hear about your son. Wise of you to pack bags ahead of time...I would never have thought of being that prepared!

Hope tomorrow is a better day!
