The diet industry would have us all think that we can lose weight fast, and that’s that. But most people who maintain their weight understand that eating and exercising are not temporary conditions, to be dumped once a pair of jeans fit. Instead, they are lifestyle choices, and ones to be made for the long haul.

I had a hard time with all of these, with the exception of #8. Especially painful were #6, 7, and 9. In the absence of working really hard not to, I will gain weight. I can't eat like people who are naturally thin, can't live like them, have to exercise a whole lot more. The worse was realizing that there is no end in sight. I have mostly accepted this, still bummed at times.
I've never subscribed to the calories in/calories out way of thinking. What we eat affects our hormonal system, which manages all the functions in the body, even metabolism, hunger, weight storage, etc.
