Doctor's visit

As I expected, got no wisdom from the medical community. Sigh. When I told my doc what the ER visits entailed, she did order a holter monitor for 48 hours. Go in to get that on the 13th.

I find it totally predictable that with the 3 doctors I've seen in the past month with shortness of breath, dizziness and racing heart - not ONE of them asked me about my diet or exercise habits. Grrrrrr.

I've felt better after starting the past couple of days with toast and eating crackers during the day. So I think part of this is the lack of carbs. And remember that study that found women had memory problems when they were doing low carb diets? Wonder if that was why I was having trouble finding words and getting paper towels when I needed toilet paper? Hmmmmm????

I'm going to see my regular chiropractor tomorrow. I'll see if she has any ideas.

Hubby is home. YAY!

It's quite possible that some of it is from low carbs. I hope you figure out what's wrong soon!
Yes, I have lost faith in the medical community as well.

I didn't know that about low carbs, and I hope you can get some answers soon.

Doesn't that just suck. You take care of your self, exercise, eat healthy, and then BAM...you get sick and the doctor's have no clue.

Grrrr....I hate waiting for results. DOn't you? I hope they find the cause soon! You may have to step up and discuss your diet and exercise with them even if they don't ask.

More often than not, I think the frustration from getting no help and the exposure to sick people, is more detrimental to our health than the thing that sent us to the doctor in the first place.

Do you have any suspicions about what might be causing the issues? I hope your chiropractor can help shed some light.

I remember feeling sluggish when I started the low-carb diet, but it eventually wears off if you stick with the diet. You might be throwing your body out of whack when you eat normal amounts of carbs, then zero amounts, then normal amounts, the endless cycle will definitely make you sluggish because your body has no routine when it comes to eating :)

Eat them carbs and let us know if you feel better!

Very interesting. Doctors seem so reluctant to ever talk about food/exercise/weight, regardless of the condition, yet these things affect our health so much!

yikes! hope you start feeling better... i've heard the holter monitors are a pain but you'll get through it!

maybe some good complex carbs- real whole grains, not the ones with the long ingredient lists, but like ezekiel brand wraps or something?

sorry you are having problems...I have dizziness when I stand quickly and it's very disconcerting - orthostatic hypotension from my bp meds.

Hope you find the cause and solution soon.

Hope you are feeling better. I'm sure you are drinking plenty of water. But I do remember something about low carbs and high protein affecting peoples hearts???not sure what it was though. I hope you get it figured out soon and are back to feeling good!! :)
take care!

Here's hoping the holter does its thing and gives up some answers.
I've experienced the low-carb effect on memory/cognition, so you may be onto something there.

I really hope it is the low-carb thing, or something that can be fixed through diet. I have a minor heart arhythmia, which has been a problem in the past, causing dizziness, racing heart, heart palpatations (skipping beats), but since I've been regularly active, and ever since I got out of the 170 range, the arhythmia doesn't affect me anymore. I'll say a little prayer :) Good luck!
