HYC Check in

I'm up, but it's TOM. I've been walking with my Skecher Shape Ups two days in a row. First day my feet fell asleep. They felt better today. VERY comfy shoes.

Yesterday I also got my pedometer and heart rate monitor. Love the pedometer! It doesn't rattle, it doesn't fall off and it doesn't talk and scare me half to death! ;-) Unfortunately, I received the HRM dead. No display at all. I'm going to take it to the store and get the battery changed and if that doesn't work, I'll send it back.

My son's arm still is not working very well. Our insurance isn't moving quickly enough on the Occupational Therapy so I took him to our chiropractor. He did some research and thinks he knows what happened and recommended we see a neurologist and get some testing done. So I'm going to be making some calls and pushing for whatever we need to do to get him in for that. The possibility was brought up that the damage may be permanent so we're NOT happy, but will take one step at a time. We are not litigious people, but if this is permanent, there will be a lawsuit. :-(

I'm tired, so I need to get to bed. Tomorrow my daughter and I are going to visit some friends from Texas who are in Colorado for vacation. So I hope to be checking in with HYC'ers on Thursday.

I hope it doesn't list this side-effect on the pre-surgery waiver form. Isn't that supposed to protect them from litigation?
YIKES!! If your chiro can't help, I"m telling you, bring him here!!!!
Love you!

It will be a better loss next week and those sketchers sound so interesting.

Good luck with your son's arm!

That is scarey about your son's arm. How sad that you have insurance, but still have to wait for services. I shutter to think what it would be like with universal heathcare. Do what the chiro says....get an outside opinion.

hugs!

You're enjoying tormenting me with those sneakers, aren't you? :)

Wishing your son speedy healing...

Glad to hear you are enjoying the new shoes! But so sorry about your son's arm - that is really concerning and I hope he improves soon.

Prayers for you son. Permanent is scary to think about so I'll hope for the best.

Looking forward to hearing more about the shoes as you have them for a while. I've heard about these & some others...it is enough to make me wonder if they *really* make a difference.

Have a great week!

This isn't a side effect, it's an INJURY that was totally preventable. I talked to our CF nurse and she said she would let their risk management person know because it sounds like there might be liability issues and I hadn't said a word about that. We have an app't tomorrow with our primary care doc to get an urgent referral to a neuro-muscular specialist. It's what the neurologist at Children's recommended.

That's scary about your son's arm. Hopefully the appt at Children's will shed some light on treatment.
