Ideas for fabulous at 50

Over breakfast yesterday I was thinking aloud, talking with my husband about what I should do for my 50th bday next March. Walk a half-marathon (I do NOT run - ever, unless maybe if a bear is chasing me), hike up Pikes Peak, learn to snowboard (he told me he has a cane and walker I can borrow), ride in a bicycle race? I want it to be something fitness related. And something I never would have been done a decade ago.

Sooooo, any other ideas on some cool activity? And don't say 99 minutes on a stairmaster. I'm not insane like Jen/PriorFatGirl!!!! ;-D

Come scubadiving in Australia :) Yeah, I know - long shot, but you're so totally invited to stay with us anyway. I'd say no to snowboarding - I grew up cross country skiing, but never liked downhill and couldn't do the snowboarding thing... bicycling race sounds fun, or just a fun bike event... I love my bike - I just need to get out and do it more!

Can't believe you about the age really... are you sure you're not a decade off - 39? The pictures look like it. You look fantastic June :) I can only hope!

After taking a second look at pictures - you don't even strike me as 39... way younger!!! How the heck do you do it?! WOW!

I love the idea of walking a half marathon! You could always ride a bike to a fun but far destination.

Okay, if you're serious, a trip to Australia is seriously not that much... you'd think it's crazy money and impossible. Actually, it's only $750 round trip from LA (just have to get to california) and about $3-400 for 2-3 weeks spending money, maybe more if you want to go crazy and rent a boat or something, although I have friends with boats, and one in particular with a summer house on an island (full of wallabies) you could probably stay in too! Seasons to come are definetely March-April (Autumn) so you miss the hot summer humidity (Nov-Feb) and the Jan-February "Summer Monsoon" season. Anyway... just planting the idea :) And my offer stands, you'll have a place to stay :)

You should do something that involves the number "50".. like.. um... walking 50 steps?

Nah, that's exercise for me :P

Keep us updated on what you decide to do!

I'm voting for the Pike's Peak idea. My Granny did it at 50 and I'm planning to as well ( it'll be here before I know it!)
ps you look awesome!

I think you should choose FIVE things, one for each decade. Space them out in the months leading up to your birthday! I wish I had done that, but I held out for the jet ski after the weight loss. :)

You should do an Aids Walk, or some walk for a cause that you're passionate about. Or, you know, a triathlon... ;)

I love fitness goals as celebrations! I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you decide! =)

Believe it or not I've walked 13.5 miles a couple of times lately just to see if I could do it. So I have no doubt that you could walk a half a marathon! Oh...and I'm over 50 already...
Stopping by to let you know I'm praying!
Psalms 91:3-6 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

The 99 minutes were amazing but think I'd pick something different, too. lol

No way I would have ever pegged you for nearing 50. I kept looking at the photo, going back to the post & thinking, nah...but I was pretty sure you didn't typo your own age. lol

You look fabulous at almost 50! Enjoy your birthday & do whatever the heck you want.
